ABOUT VANESSA

A picture of Vanessa Emile

I offer a confidential psychological therapies to individuals and couples for personal and professional development, health and wellbeing.

I have an integrative holistic approach utilising a number of established evidence based therapies to include: Counselling & Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psycho-Sexual Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT) and Life Coaching.

In addition, I provide Work Support to people who are experiencing difficulties at their place of work, and teach Stress Management Skills, Relaxation and Mindfulness Techniques.

Clinical Experience:

I have over twelve years clinical experience working therapeutically with clients using evidence based models of treatment on either a short or open ended basis.

My clinical experience has been in voluntary sectors, GP medical centre and business organisations, as well as in private practice for the past 12 years.  I work with a wide range of clients some with complex needs and a variety of life difficulties include:

Severe trauma, panic attacks, substance and internet abuse, work related stress, anxiety and depression, sexual abuse, cross cultural and identity problems, addictions, anger management, social phobias to long term mental and physical health issues including personality disorders and OCD.

My speciality is working with psycho-somatic health problems to include a few here such as: Halitosis, scoliosis, sciatica, teeth grinding/clicking, IBS, reoccurring infections, urinary infections, skin and scalp problems, boils, eczema and itchiness, burping, gynaecological problems, fibroids, endometriosis and fertility problems.

Because we are all different there is no one problem I have not encountered in the twelve years of my therapeutic experience, please see the web page listing the  breadth of this experience in the conditions I can support through therapy.  In addition, I have been providing NLP and Life Coaching for over seven years to both individuals and to people within organisations achieving excellent results.

I believe one model of therapy does not suit all, but the use of various theoretical models has much to offer a client.  I use theory to inform my work but do not attempt to fit or label my clients to them as each person is unique.

I am passionate about my work and strive to empower and heal my clients in the best possible way.  I don't believe therapy is about going in circles, spending hours (or for some people years) on the past but, it is about making positive changes to your situation, being active, using the past as a tool to help move forward, but to work in the here and now to make the difference.  Therapy is about being honest with yourself, open to reflect on what you are experiencing, remove the dilemmas, limitations and struggles you face in your life and, explore possibilities and solutions to your situation in a safe confidential place.

I understand therapy is challenging, and I value that it can at times be difficult to face getting help. When a client and therapist commit to a working relationship the benefits are endless and changes can be dynamic.

How I Work:

My therapy is strictly confidential and I follow the strict professional code of conduct, good practice and ethical framework of my professional membership organisations.

The work is variable to the therapeutic needs of my clients, in terms of intensity and length of the sessions, using established models to support the treatment.  I individually tailor the therapy to suit each clients need and personality by attending to the whole person, their perceptions, thoughts, feelings and physical experience.

The sessions are about you and having a shared and collaborate therapeutic relationship with flexibility to achieve results.  My aim is to facilitate ways that respect your values, personal resources and capacity for choice to change within your cultural, environmental and spiritual context and recognise how they can sometimes be at odds with your actions or on how you feel.

At Times Do You Feel.....

- A sense of loneliness and unfulfilment, unloved and unsupported;

- It's embarrassing and it is too difficult to talk to someone;

- Bewildered, let down and lost;

- You always give, never recognised or valued for what you do;

- Relationships are difficult and the same pattern keeps repeating;

- You have done something you cannot forgive yourself for and are unable to stop feeling guilty;

- Confused, unhappy, not sure of a direction in life with work or in a relationship;

- Repeating the same patterns, and going in circles blaming yourself of what you have done in the past;

- No matter how many times you visit your Doctor or specialists, they just don't seem to find anything wrong medically, but you feel there is something wrong';
