STRESS AND ANXIETY COUNSELLING IN LONDON

Stress and anxiety has become a major area of my work.  I now help more and more people overcome their stress when pressure exceeds their ability to cope.  I use a combination of therapies to include: Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and NLP with Relaxation Techniques to help overcome and replace the anxieties and stress in your life.  You will be given exercises to do between our sessions to fast the results of the work we do in each session.

Many of the people I work with have a direct physical health related problem due to their stress and anxiety levels.  Often these physical health problems are a direct manifestation of the problematic anxieties where medical professionals are unable to explain or treat the problem.

The physical symptoms are wide and varied as each person is different.  However, they frequently range from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), bleeding, constant headaches, migraine to those experiencing heart pains, tightness of the chest, palpitations and breathing difficulties to skin infections, hair loss, stomach aches, generalised pain, teeth grinding and many other symptoms.  Others are constantly tired, unable to sleep or find themselves waking up tired, and unable to focus are only a few symptoms mentioned here.

I support my clients who are already medically treated with anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medications as well as sleeping tablets, or are self medicating through drink, social drug taking or natural remedies to overcome their stress and anxiety.

How I Can Help You Overcome the Stress and Anxiety in your Life?

The work first begins to understand why your anxiety and stress is happening.  Recognising what sets off your stress and anxieties at any given time and, why they are affecting you in this way.

I then work together to identify your patterns of thoughts, feelings and physical problems this impacts you personally.

If you are self medicating or are taking prescribed medication for your stress and anxiety, you will be expected to work with your medical practitioner to reducing your medication by phasing them out during therapy. The aim is for you to become independent from medication or self medicating treatments by the end of our therapy time.  This process is through balancing your chemical needs of the body working with the neuro-logical pathways of your brain and increasing the natural endorphin and serotonin levels to balance your perceived thoughts and feelings.

Thirdly, every stress and anxiety has a protective reasoning behind your feelings and thoughts. Once we discover how your current thinking and behavioural patterns are rooted from, what they are doing for you and where it has come from.  This process is often challenging for a client as it opens your mind and emotions to both levels of your conscious and unconscious beliefs that actually have real meaning and logic that you no longer need.  You will learn new skills and together we will develop the best strategy to enable you to change.

In the fourth phase of our work practising and refining the alternative strategies so you can benefit by taking control by being free of your negative stress and anxiety in your life as you adapt and learn new skills overcome the anxieties in your live.

You will build a strong foundation and start to enjoy your life free of the anxieties and stress and; effectively overcome any physical health problems you may have associated to it. 

It is never too late to get the right help.  But is better and therapy is much more short term if you get help before you burn yourself out, become addicted to your medication or self-medicating treatments, your health problems increase, or you exceed the number of days off sick at work or even lose your job because of it.
